Taare Zameen Par by Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Farah Khan, Rakesh Roshan or Priyadarshan

If Karan Johar made Taare

• Obvious starcast:
• Shah Rukh Khan as the arts teacher (duh duh duh!!).
• Aryan Khan as the dyslexic child (even if he could not act for nuts).
• Rani Mukerjee as the kid’s mom (assuming Kajol is unavailable).
• Abhishek Bachchan as the kid’s dad.
• Amitabh Bachchan as the school principal (who cares if the role is ultra minute, he can afford it).
• It would be shot in New York to appeal to the NRI audience.
• The story line would obviously be different. SRK would fall for the dyslexic kid’s mom. The last scene would have the mom running to the teacher rather than the kid. And again, like in so many other movies, SRK would get someone else’s girl.
• It would have one dance number.
• The film would be titled ‘ Kuch Taare Zameen Par .’

If Sanjay Leela Bhansali made Taare
• Obvious starcast:
• Salman as the teacher.
• Rani as the mother.
• Of course the whole film would be shot on elaborate sets. The school would be nothing short of Harvard university.
• An orchestra would play every time anyone cried.
• Slow motion, different camera angles for every scene.
• The school uniforms would match the classroom walls even though that does not make a f***ing difference.
• The film would cost 60 crores.

If Farah Khan made Taare
• Obvious starcast:
• SRK as the teacher (yawn).
• In the original Taare, Aamir makes an entry at the interval point. In Farah’s version, SRK would be on screen on for 2.30 hrs out of the 2.45 hrs and would be introduced in the first scene itself.
• The story would be changed to make sure the above happened. The focus of the film would be a teacher who helps a kid fight dyslexia.
• To make it a complete entertainer, there would be a romantic angle, comedy, and action thrown in. Oh idea!! Nikumbh’s character likes another teacher and the kiddo helps him.. throw in some comedy moments there and you have romance and comedy settled. For action.. hmm.. lemme see.. oh yah, the kid gets kidnapped and the teacher fights the baddies to save him. Wow!! I’m quite an imaginative writer. I can see how Farah can write a film from scratch in two weeks straight.
• The film posters would have a big SRK with the tiny image of the kid in the background.

If Rakesh Roshan made Taare
• Obvious starcast:
• Hrithik Roshan as the teacher.
• Since Rakesh Roshan cannot think beyond science fiction these days, this film would have that too. Instead of dyslexia, the kid would have alienositis or something, a condition induced due to him witnessing an alien abduction.
• Instead of Nikumbh being an arts teacher, he would be a physics teacher, and instead of asking kids to be creative, he would ask them to challenge the science we know.
• In the scene where Nikumbh asks the kids to open their minds and make whatever they want outdoors, the kid Ishaan, instead of making a boat, would end up making a working spaceship prototype.
• Nikumbh would cure the kids problem by making a full fledged version of the kid’s prototype, traveling to the alien planet, and asking them to give the kid his powers back.
• The film would have music by Rajesh Roshan ripped off from some world music.
• The film’s name would again start with a K.. probably ‘ Kuch Aliens Taaron se Zameen Par‘ .
• The director would make sure Hrithik gets to show all his abilities. This would mean a scene with Roshan jr flexing his muscles, and a dance competition in the end, instead of an arts competition.

If Priyadarshan made Taare:
• Obvious starcast:
• Akshay Kumar as the teacher.
• Paresh Rawal as the kid’s dad.
• It would be a brainless comedy. The kid’s dyslexia would be made fun of. Half the times the parents will be running after the kid from one room to the other and that, in the director’s opinion, would be funny.
• The film will be full of sex jokes. So for example, when Akshay would come to the parents telling them that their son has dyslexia, the ignorant father would say something inappropriate like ‘iss umar mein? par kaise, woh to hamesha boys school mein padha hai!’. And yes, the director would think it is funny.
• In the climax of the film all the characters in the film would run around in the amphitheater for no reason, spilling colors on each other. That’s where the film will end, without any logical conclusion.
• And of course, Paresh Rawal would emote like an epileptic himself making us question the boy’s mental abilities anyway.

Bollywood’s latest teen heartthrob and the face of ‘Youngistan’ Ranbir Kapoor had yet another debut of sorts, last Saturday (March 29). The handsome actor, who impressed one and all with his acting prowess in Saawariya, took the ramp for the first time at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.

Ranbir, looking dapper in an ethnic ’sherwani’, walked the ramp for his good friend -designer Arjun Khanna. The suave actor had family support too on his special day. Mom Neetu Singh and his lady love, Deepika Padukone cheered him loudly as he appeared on stage. But the moment of the show was when Ranbir gave an impromptu flying kiss towards his mom and Deepika.

Whether that flying kiss was for mommy dearest or his dream gal we’ll keep mum and leave it to your imagination!!!

The Bachchan family
Mumbai, March 27 (IANS) While actress Lara Dutta has opted out of the Bachchans’ ‘Unforgettable Show’ world tour because of her knee injury, Akshay Kumar has decided to join it, though he will perform only at select venues.

The show’s organisers Wizcraft are now in the process of finalising seven to eight big stars from Bollywood to accompany Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai at various venues in July and August.

‘Akshay is back in the Bachchans’ world tour. But he’ll join them only at selected venues because that is all Akshay’s schedules allow,’ said a source.

‘Likewise, at other centres we’re roping in other A-listers who will join the Bachchans as they perform all over the US and later Europe. In this way there would be a couple of big surprise guest appearances by marquee names in every city, though rightly the focus of interest would remain the Bachchan family,’ added the source.

Composer duo Vishal-Shekhar has been confirmed as a part of the tour. They will be accompanying the Bachchans for all their concerts, just like decades ago Kalyanji-Anandji used to be an integral part of the Big B’s concerts.

In fact, an album featuring Abhishek with guest vocals by the Big B that Vishal-Shekhar have been putting together for the last two years will finally be ready to coincide with the Bachchans’ world concert.

After wooing audiences with superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s item song for Krazzy 4, Rakesh Roshan and Director Jaideep Sen are all set with one more ace up their sleeve- an item song by dance king Hrithik Roshan!!!

The film is set to create a record of sorts with two superstars stars having their item numbers choreographed to the tunes of one song, “BreakFree”.

The promos of the stunningly choreographed Hrithik song will start airing this week. It is touted to have some of his best dance moves ever!

Says Jaideep Sen, “It was a delight to direct SRK and I must say the song is getting popular day by day. Hrithik’s song is on the same tune but there is a slight change in lyrics. He has danced brilliantly as usual and it shows. I am very lucky that two mega stars have danced on the title song for my debut film. Also Rakhi Sawant’s song is for the masses as she has a certain amount of class and is famous through her item songs. It was a great working experience with her as well!”

Krazzy 4 is a light-hearted comedy focusing on four Krazzy guys - Arshad Warsi, Rajpal Yadav, Irrfan Khan, Suresh Menon along with Juhi Chawla. Releasing on April 11, 2008, it is directed by debutant Jaideep Sen and produced by Rakesh Roshan under his banner FilmKraft.

Tibetans ask Aamir to skip Olympic torch relay

March 28, 2008 at 10:40 am | In Bollywood | No Comments

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, March 28, 2008 - 14:12 IST

That Aamir getting (read ‘championing’) social causes and eventually getting embroiled into controversies is nothing new. However, this time, it has stretched a bit too far. It was just recently, that it was announced that Aamir ‘The Perfectionist’ Khan would be one of the Olympic torchbearers, something that the Tibetan community in India has raised objection to.

They have told Aamir to simply distance himself from the Olympic torch relay that is to be held in China in 2008, so much so that a young protestor went to the extent of threatening self-immolation, if Aamir did not yield to the protests.

The reason cited for this protest is to express solidarity with the Tibetan struggle for freedom from China. Wonder what Aamir will have to say about it!

Original choices for ‘Race’

March 27, 2008 at 6:06 am | In Bollywood | No Comments

By Taran Adarsh, March 26, 2008 - 08:34 IST

Now it can be told! Everyone knows that Fardeen Khan was initially supposed to enact the role that has been portrayed brilliantly by Akshaye Khanna in RACE. Also, Mallika Sherawat was the first choice for the role of Mini [eventually portrayed by Sameera Reddy], the dumb associate of the investigating officer. Not many know that the casting underwent many changes before it finally went to the actors we see on screen today. Read on…

To start with, when Fardeen Khan opted out of the project [the dates were clashing with HEYY BABYY], the makers approached John Abraham for the part. John heard the script, but declined the offer because he didn’t want to portray a negative role [didn't he win accolades in DHOOM?]. The role went to Akshaye Khanna.

Before Bipasha Basu came into the picture, the role was initially offered to Priyanka Chopra. She too, like John, didn’t like the idea of playing a negative role interesting [although she won tremendous praise for her part in Abbas-Mustan's AITRAAZ]. Bipasha was the next choice and when she heard the script, it was a ‘Yes’ instantly.

Anil Kapoor too wasn’t the first choice for the part of the investigating officer. This role was first offered to Ajay Devgan, who loved the script, but felt that he wouldn’t like to do a strong, intense film then. Akshay Kumar was approached next. The actor shares a terrific rapport with Abbas-Mustan, but he declined the role because he didn’t want to play a secondary role.

“It’s Priyan’s best film” - Akshaye Khanna

March 27, 2008 at 5:58 am | In Bollywood | No Comments

By Taran Adarsh, March 26, 2008 - 08:41 IST

Akshaye Khanna is on Cloud Nine and rightly so! His work in RACE has come in for tremendous appreciation and most importantly, its success at the box-office has only added to the excitement. Shooting for SHORTKUT in Bangkok, the actor confides in me that no one expected RACE to work in such a big way. “Of course, all of us were confident that it would work big time, but the numbers have caught everyone unawares,” he sounds elated.

Akshaye, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the business, now looks forward to working with Akshay Kumar some day. “Imagine the two of us in one movie,” he states, “And only two people can achieve the impossible — Abbas-Mustan and Priyadarshan. In fact, they’ve been toying with the idea of casting us in a movie, but haven’t found the right script yet.”

Akshaye now looks forward to his next release MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP, which brings Akshaye and Priyadarshan together after a gap of few years. “It’s a fabulous film. In fact, I’d like to say that it’s Priyan’s best film so far,” he beams. Coming from someone whose name is synonymous with qualitative cinema, it only increases the expectations from this film.
